We describe our interiors as Folk, in the truest sense of the word — rooted in craftsmanship, shaped by hand, and attuned to the rituals of daily life. To us, Folk is not a style but a sensibility: one that values imperfection, material honesty, and the quiet intelligence of things made with care.
Our designs are composed with restraint, favoring natural materials, tactile finishes, and a lived-in sense of calm. We draw from vernacular traditions without imitating them —allowing each project to feel grounded, generous, and quietly expressive. Never too polished, never too precious — just enough.

Everything is an experiment.
In rhythm with the subjects of soft fascination, Ikebana, and the Japanese ritual of tome ishi, Item: Enso is an outlet for exploratory methods where metal bends to reach the light like a flower would. An autodidactic practice, every object is made entirely by hand by interior designers Yuria Kailich and Joel Harding in New York City. Each piece unearths a layered harmony around the use of wood, ceramic, metal and antique textiles, as a testament to the Enso process.

Material and FF&E Specification
Selection and specification of architectural finishes, as well as fully custom furniture and lighting — working collaboratively with vendors on shop drawings and needed technical documentation.
Space Planning & Layout
Development of cohesive, functional floor plans and wayfinding through furniture placement and flow.
Custom Drawings
AutoCAD drawings of bespoke furniture, floor plans, and elevations. Including photoshop overlays for client-facing presentations, mockups, and photorealistic renderings
Budgeting & Procurement
Creation of detailed budgets and timelines. Purchasing, invoicing, and vendor coordination using trackable systems and spreadsheets.
Production Oversight
Vendor communication around lead times, custom orders, storage, and deliveries.
Installation & Styling
On-site coordination and final styling of furniture, accessories, and florals. Collaboration with photographers to capture each space with care.
